ECHO welcomes in 2010 with a resounding BANG! So much is happening that there is hardly enough space to cover it all. ECHO was one of three teams from Evansville chosen to participate in the State of Indiana’s Corporation for Supportive Housing Institute which was held over a period of six months in 2009. The goals of the Institute were to help the teams chosen secure the funding needed to complete the individual projects for permanent supportive housing in Evansville. ECHO’s project was Lucas Place II, a 27 one bedroom apartment complex, which will serve homeless veterans with disabilities. Breaking News:We hope to break ground sometime this summer.
ECHO is also hoping to secure funding for a Child Development Center in Jacobsville and is working closely with the City of Evansville to participate in the development of affordable housing in Evansville.
Lucas Place celebrated its 10 year anniversary last year and we celebrated with a gala starting at Old National Bank and ending with a fabulous dessert cake depicting Lucas Place served in the community room at Lucas Place. Transportation from Old National was by trolley. The Grande Dame never looked better. It was the first tour after the terrible fire we suffered during the summer.
There are also several other programs, that you will learn about as you read the newsletter, that are brand new to ECHO and we are so excited to have them.
I am so proud to be affiliated with an organization that has such am impact on our community.
